A Morning Made for This
There’s a particular magic to a Saturday morning that the rest of the week simply can’t touch. The alarm stays silent. The to-do list can wait. The world outside your window is soft and unhurried — dew still clinging to the grass, light spilling warm and golden through the curtains — and for a few precious hours, everything is exactly as it should be. Now pour yourself that cup and step out onto the porch and spin that dial to 101.7 KSAM.

What Is The Back Porch?
Every Saturday morning from 6 to 10am, 101.7 KSAM steps back in time with a show that feels less like a radio program and more like a conversation with an old friend. On The Back Porch is a four-hour journey through the golden era of country music — the kind of songs that tell real stories, the kind of voices that make you feel something deep in your chest.
We’re talking classics from the 1960s through the 1990s. Four decades of heartache, honky-tonk, front-porch philosophy, and hard-won joy. Merle Haggard singing about working men. Tammy Wynette standing by her story. George Strait making two-stepping feel like poetry. Loretta Lynn telling the truth the way only she could. Willie Nelson wandering on the road again. These songs aren’t just music — they’re memory.
Your Host
Behind the mic is Bryan Reeder, a 7th generation Texan and voice that belongs on a show like this. Bryan brings the warmth and genuine love for this music that these songs deserve. He doesn’t just play the records — he honors them. Tune in on any given Saturday and you’ll hear your favorite artists and the stories behind their legendary hits, as well as YOUR stories (send’em here). On The Back Porch is his invitation to come sit a spell, and it’s one worth accepting.
More Than Music
When you tune in to On The Back Porch, you’re not just listening to songs. You’re connecting with something enduring, something that speaks to who we are and where we come from.
We invite you to tell us YOUR favorite stories and memories about your favorite country classic songs, your favorite artists, and especially about your life in southeast Texas or wherever you call home. Send an EMAIL to the Back Porch Mailbox, and Bryan will share your story on the air along with your favorite song.
