Like any well-thought-out city, the city of Huntsville is made up of zoning districts. The districts can be broken down into medium density residential, high density residential, simple living residential, mixed use, industrial, public institutional and downtown area mixed use.
According to the city’s website, “The Planning Department plays a crucial role in managing the city’s growth and development. The primary responsibilities include land use planning and zoning where it develops and enforces zoning ordinances and land use regulation to manage residential, commercial, industrial and public spaces.”
The official zoning map is available on the city’s website. We talked with Ward #1 City Councilmember Tore Fossum and asked him if he thought Huntsville’s zoning was flexible enough . . . .
