A fire on the grounds of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum and Republic of Texas Presidential Library Tuesday night destroyed two structures, the pottery shed and glass blower shed. The woodworking shop was severely damaged.
There were no Sam Houston related artifacts stored in the buildings. According to Museum Director Derrick Birdsall, a 1930s reproduction of a McCormick reaper, a tool used for cutting grain was damaged.
Birdsall was appreciative of the help they received in the fire . . . .
