DEDICATION FOR HISTORICAL MARKER AHEAD

A new state historical marker in Huntsville honors Representative Richard Williams, Walker County’s first black legislator, who served from 1870 to 1874. The community is invited to a Dedication Ceremony this morning at 10 AM at the County Courthouse gazebo. If it’s raining downtown, this ceremony will take place at the Gibbs Powell Home on 11^th Street. Either way, the Walker County Historical Commission will host a reception at 11 AM at the Gibbs Powell Home.
