A new state historical marker in Huntsville honors Representative Richard Williams, Walker County’s first black legislator, who served from 1870 to 1874. The community is invited to a Dedication Ceremony this morning at 10 AM at the County Courthouse gazebo. If it’s raining downtown, this ceremony will take place at the Gibbs Powell Home on 11th Street. Either way, the Walker County Historical Commission will host a reception at 11 AM at the Gibbs Powell Home.
