The San Jacinto River Authority, at their June 25th regular board meeting, reviewed 10-year plans for Highlands and Lake Conroe divisions.
Regarding the Lake Conroe 10-year plan, SJRA Project Manager Greg Lushbaugh passed along the projects and their complete budgets, which include:
For a new Lake Conroe boat dock–$70,000
For a service outlet north gate rehabilitation–$70,000
For a service outlet crane hoist rehabilitation–$98,000
For updates to the Lake Conroe forecast tool–$320,000
For West Dam crest road repairs–$653,000
For 20 new artesian dam relief wells–$1.4 million
For road maintenance and a new gate for the Lake Conroe facility–$1.5 million
Lushbaugh said when it was first installed in 1973 the service outlet crane was one of the original tools used by the dam’s maintenance team. Due to daily use and weather, it has faced wear and tear. In order for vehicles to properly access maintenance roads and other facilities, the road repairs to the Lake facilities are needed.
Making estimates of lake levels during floods is what the Lake Conroe forecast tool is used for. The implementation of National Weather service data, a new custom dashboard and the automation of certain parameters are the multiple enhancements SJRA wants to add to the tool.
