We are gearing up for one of the most exciting events of the year — Bearkat Mania 2026 — and we need YOUR help to make it a success!
Bearkat Mania is Sam Houston State University’s annual “Welcome to Huntsville” celebration, welcoming incoming freshmen and reuniting returning students, staff, and faculty for the start of a new academic year. This beloved tradition takes place on Tuesday, September 9, 2026, on the Frank Parker Plaza at the Lowman Student Center.
This one-of-a-kind event is the only time each year that local Huntsville businesses are invited onto campus to connect with the SHSU community — sharing product samples, services, and information with thousands of attendees. It’s a fantastic day of Bearkat spirit, community connection, and Kat pride!
To pull it all off, we depend on enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to donate their time to assist local business exhibitors with setting up and breaking down their booths throughout the day.
As a volunteer, you will:
• Help exhibitors load in and set up their booths before the event (6:30am-10am)
• Assist with booth breakdown and load-out at the conclusion of the event (12:30pm-2pm)
• Be a friendly, welcoming face representing the best of the SHSU community
Whether you’re a student looking for a fun way to kick off the semester, a faculty or staff member who loves giving back, or simply someone who wants to be part of the Bearkat tradition — we’d love to have you on our volunteer team!
To sign up, fill out this form. Thanks and Eat’Em Up!
