Community Impact has an update on three East Montgomery County road projects either planned or recently completed.

Old Houston Road is up for a two to four lane road widening with a turn lane and roadside ditches. The location is between Highway 242 and FM 1314 in a three-phase project. Montgomery County Precinct 4 officials said, the Segment 1 final design is complete, and the construction contract was awarded in Commissioners Court on May 21st. For Segment 1, the time line is June 2026 through June 2027. The timeline for Segments 2 and 3 is to be determined. The 2025 road bond and Precinct 4 Commissioner’s office are the funding sources.

For the future extension of Galaxy Boulevard north of FM 1485/the Grand Parkway, proposed improvements include, alignment, survey and right-of way acquisition. Still under determination is an exact map for the project. According to Precinct 4 officials, field work at present is underway. The timeline and cost are to be determined. The 2025 road bond and Precinct 4 Commissioners Office are the funding sources.

Standing as completed is Fostoria Road’s widening from two to four lanes between Highway 59 and Morgan Cemetery Road. At Morgan Cemetery Road, turn lanes were also added, and along the corridor ditches were reconstructed. In late 2025, drainage improvements were completed while road construction was finished this spring. This marks the first road-widening project finished in Precinct 4 from the 2025 Montgomery County Road Bond, according to officials. January 5th through April 21, 2026 was the timeline at a cost of $5.9 million.
