The Courier of Montgomery County reports that having opened their 45,000 square foot facility Montgomery County nonprofit Children’s Safe Harbor will be able to double their efforts of supporting children and families in dealing with trauma.
The new building, which opened in November at Loop 336 East in Conroe, is a $10 million facility. In a design featuring open spaces, natural light, calm cooler colors, water features and a wooded setting, healing is environmentally enhanced to promote healing for youth and their families affected by sexual assault, severe physical abuse, child sex trafficking, sextortion and online soliciting in the north Houston region.
The organization has been around for 27 years and was formerly located on Oddfellow Street in Conroe but has grown out of the location because of the area’s growth and increasing case load. The Oddfellow Street will go back to the county who were the lease holders.
Since its beginning, Children’s Safe Harbor has helped over 31,369 children across counties including Montgomery, San Jacinto, and parts of Harris. The agency conducted 2,245 forensic interviews, in 2024 alone, according to data from the group.
Back in 2024 a groundbreaking took place. The architectural firm Tramonte Designed the building. Construction was by Tellepsen Builders. The project management company for the facility was Gauge Real Estate Partners.
