On December 16, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Huntsville Police Officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of Avenue M near 8th Street. The driver fled at a high rate of speed and struck Officer Sean Brinson head-on as he was responding to assist. Officer Brinson was extricated from his patrol vehicle by Huntsville Fire and received initial medical treatment from Walker County EMS at the scene. He was transported to a Houston-area hospital, where he was in critical condition with numerous severe injuries.
Huntsville Police Department Chief Darryle Slaven addressed councilmembers last night on the matter.
