The Courier of Montgomery County reports that in 2026 Montgomery will have a new H-E-B store. An Academy sporting goods store will also be built in the same year.
The H-E-B will begin construction at the southeast corner of Texas 105 and FM 2854 according to Montgomery Mayor Sara Countryman. The land has been owned by the grocery chain for around 15 years.
The new Academy will be on C.B. Stewart Drive near Ransom’s Steakhouse & Saloon.
The two brands are coming to Montgomery County because of the great growth in the area, according to Countryman.
According to information from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new H-E-B will be a 127,186-square-foot store. The store’s estimated cost is $30 million.
Later this summer, construction is scheduled to start. According to the licensing office, the estimated completion date is in the late summer of 2026.
The property has an historical connection. The facility will be built on the homestead of Charles B. Stewart who has been given credit for designing the Texas flag.
The Academy store, to be built on 32 acres, is at present in the planning stage. It will open in the summer of 2026.
