Community Impact reports that on December 10th, following a proposal to have LJA Engineering begin preliminary work on drafting a potential bond issue, Montgomery County Commissioners debated the timing of a proposed 2025 infrastructure bond.
A proposal to have LJA Engineering perform consulting services by putting together a possible project list and conducting a public engagement for a May bond was brought forth by Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker.
Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley wasn’t favorable to the idea. He said in previous bond issues, the commissioners always put together a road project list. Tentative support was given by County Judge Mark Keough for using an outside engineering firm to begin work because of concerns that the bond issue would be delayed once again from the previously discussed May time frame.
At the request of Assistant County Attorney Amy Dunham, Commissioners voted 4 to 1to defer discussion on a contract with LJA Engineering. She said there was not an official contract available yet for them to okay, so commissioners could not hire or agree to pay LJA Engineering any funds having to do with the proposal.
On December 17th at 9:30 AM, the discussion will continue at the next Commissioners Court meeting at 501 North Thompson Street in Conroe.
