The Montgomery County Courier reports that to celebrate 50 years of The Woodlands, community leaders are getting ready to present a $1.2 million sculpture that will be situated at one of the gateway entrances to the township.
Proposed by The Woodlands Road Utility District Number 1, the “First Fifty” anniversary sculpture is part of aesthetic improvements at the intersection of The Woodlands Parkway and Grogan’s Mill Road.
The sculpture will be 50-foot in diameter. It will feature a circular frame made of weathering steel, with stainless steel markers along the frame to reflect The Woodlands’ experience since its inception. It’s hoped construction will begin in early 2025.
