Community Impact reports that the City of Montgomery, at a July 11th meeting, looked at a request for a parking variance for a proposed Home Depot. The store’s location would be at Highway 105 and Buffalo Springs in Montgomery. If approved, it would be located just west of Kroger in a 137,182 square-foot building.
At the meeting, no actions were approved. However, a representative from Home Depot and councilmembers talked about the request, which stipulated certain conditions.
Those conditions include:
–A traffic light installation at Buffalo Springs Drive and Highway 105.
–Buffalo Springs Drive reconstruction between Eva Street and Lone Star Parkway.
–Revisions to the landscape plan proposal which includes screening of the rooftop equipment.
–Elimination of the proposed split-face concrete block exterior construction, and instead, utilizing a 100% masonry exterior that is either brick or natural stone.
Home Deport site coordinator Jordan Corbitt said they have “allocated some budget to construct the signal because it would benefit Home Depot.” He added, however, “We also see that benefits the city greatly, too.”
The item was tabled by councilmembers with potential conditions to be discussed later. It will be on the agenda at the next council meeting on July 25th.
With a completion date set for October 2024, Home Depot would be working to open the store by the end of next year.
It was also reported that a facade change from concrete to stone would extend the project forward to December 2025.
Home Depot site Coordinator Corbitt added that calling for Home Depot to reconstruct the entire section of Buffalo Springs Drive could possibly “kill the project.”
