The Courier of Montgomery County reports that not only does Conroe have a new Convention and Visitors Bureau Director in Sherry Chaney Morgan, the city is also getting a new visitor’s center with community space.
Ms. Morgan wants “a synergistic space where people feel comfortable to come in and get information.”
Houston-based PGAL has been hired by the Conroe City Council to come up with conceptual plans and design work for the project. The center will be based on the first floor of Conroe Tower at 300 West Davis Street.
Ms. Morgan worked in Conroe as tourism director from 2012 to 2017. Recently, she worked at Visit Nacogdoches as executive director.
The council approved 14,000 square feet of public space for user-friendly remodeling back in January of 2022.
The original building proposal contained not only a visitor’s center and community room, but a catering kitchen as well.
The council removed the catering kitchen from the plan.
The project will offer a new area for seating, reception area, doors, new flooring and ceiling. Residents can utilize the new included community room for area events. The timeline and project cost were not available.
