Community Impact reports that preliminary redesign plans for I-45 are being worked on by Montgomery County Precinct #3 Commissioner James Noack.
Changes reported from a recent news release involve an improvement in traffic flow and easing of congestion between the exits of Rayford and Sawdust Roads as well as the Grand Parkway. On May 23rd Commissioner, Noack got unanimous support in commissioners’ court in approval of funding to start the preliminary design of improving I-45 at the Hardy Toll Road.
Information from the release also passed along that the project is seen as a high priority project by TxDOT. It further explained that a detailed traffic analysis and design visualization of the ramp change proposals are expected to be done by TxDOT.
According to officials from Precinct 3 and general discussion at the May 23rd Commissioners meeting, the project would result in:
–revising the southbound and northbound ramps on I-45
–raising the Hardy Toll Road entrance and exit ramps over the Rayford/Sawdust exit
–reducing delays and improving safety on I-45
–not changing the ramp at Grand Parkway.
In accord with Commissioners’ May 23rd discussion, $980,000 is needed to start the first study. A motion was approved to use pass through funding or interest paid through the last road bond to get the project moving.
