The Courier of Montgomery County reports that a new annex in Willis is being opened by the Montgomery County Tax Office. Recent growth in housing developments and retail are the primary reasons.
On Tuesday, approval was given by Montgomery County Commissioners for four positions which includes a branch manager for the new location. Build-out of the space was also approved.
Precinct #1 Commissioner Robert Walker said Tax Assessor-Collector Tammy McRae’s office will arrange funding for the build-out. Commissioner Walker’s office will provide $114,482 for the four positions from his budget through October.
The new office, opening in the fall, will be located at 804 West Montgomery, Suite B.
McRae said, “There has been a lot of growth in Willis, and it is one of the last areas of the county that did not have a branch office.”
