The City of Conroe is retooling their transit service for the city to become an on-demand service concentrating its efforts on the disabled, seniors and veterans.
Council members okayed an agreement to extend its contract with MTM Transit for two months, as the City adopts the Conroe Connection operation in-house. The recently begun Downtown Circular bus program will not be affected.
The Conroe Connection will not continue on a fixed route. At present the bus runs four routes 12 times a day.
City Administrator and Director of Community Services Nancy Mikeska said, “We believe we can bring this in-house, and we can provide a better quality of service and we can actually save money and have better control over the program.”
