Community Impact reports that with their main objective to improve reliability in Montgomery County, Entergy has begun a number of projects in the Conroe area.
As an operations coordinator with Entergy, Kurt Luker reported earlier this month certain areas have been recognized as problem areas. As a result, he said the company has started a rebuilding effort in the most problematic and aging areas in Conroe. They are working on adding devices to counteract storm-caused and publicly inflicted damage to their systems.
Luker said its an upgrade from an older standard to newer one. The new standard lessens wind damage from hurricanes in the area. Following a historical assessment of power outages, they are concentrating their work on systems from Avenue M and FM 3083 north all the way to Highway 105 and Avenue M in Conroe to east of Loop 336.
He said customers may experience some power outages, as the workers will need to be safe on whatever line they are working on.
The projection for completion of the projects is the end of the fourth quarter of this year.
