Community Impact reports that coming up April 23 at 7 PM the Montgomery Community Band will perform its first concert at the Montgomery High School. There is no charge to attend the event.
Back in December, trumpet player Joe Fioretti began creating the band. He put it together so he could play his trumpet and recruit others who wanted to play their instruments again. There weren’t any openings for trumpet players in other area community bands.
In a survey that went out in November, 60 to 70 people signed up.
Montgomery ISD gave him permission to use the high school band room to perform in.
Band members include anywhere from high school band members to professional musicians.
Mr. Fioretti’s plan is to have at least four concerts a year. Traditional band arrangements will be featured in the first performance along with music from “The Sound of Music.”
There is no charge to join the band. Practice is every Sunday at Montgomery High School.
