Texas country comes to Huntsville this weekend as singer-songwriter Dustin de la Garza takes the stage Friday night at the Jolly Fox Club.
De la Garza is a South Texas native and fifth-generation cowboy whose connection to country music runs deeper than simply singing about the lifestyle. He grew up around ranching and rodeo, and his father performed in a country band when he was younger. Watching his dad play guitar inspired De la Garza to pick up the instrument and start writing songs.
His sound draws heavily on the traditional side of country music, with influences including George Strait, Chris LeDoux, Alan Jackson, and Ronnie Milsap. That background has shaped a style built around cowboys, dance halls, and the kind of country music long part of Texas culture. De la Garza released his debut EP, Cowboy’s Way of Life, in 2021, which has since collected more than one million streams. His more recent releases include the 2025 EP Old Country Songs and songs including “Something About Cowgirls,” “South of San Antone,” and “Made for the Neons.”
He’s also spent plenty of time on Texas stages, opening shows for artists including Parker McCollum, Randy Rogers Band, Aaron Watson, Stoney LaRue and Randall King.
Huntsville gets its turn this weekend.
Dustin de la Garza performs Friday, October 2 at the Jolly Fox Club, 2504 Sam Houston Avenue in Huntsville. The show is scheduled for 7 p.m.
