A Walker County Jury found Julius Aminu (ah-min-NEW) guilty of Assault Causing Bodily Injury –Family Violence and Resisting Arrest in the County Court at Law on January 28, 2026, with Judge John Gaines presiding. After hearing punishment evidence, the jury sentenced Aminu to 300 days in the Walker County Jail and a fine of $2,000 for the Assault and 180 days in jail and a fine of $1,000 for Resisting Arrest. The maximum jail time was 365 days for these Class A Misdemeanors. Aminu had previously been arrested in Walker County for several family violence incidents dating back to 2014 and was convicted for Resisting Arrest and Criminal Trespass in 2023 for which he was sentenced to a year in jail. The trial team for the Walker County District Attorney’s Office included lead trial prosecutor Amber Mitchell, assisted by second chair Anthony Bennett, Investigator Everett Harrell and Victim’s Assistance Coordinator Cheryl Little.
On November 20, 2025, Aminu assaulted his wife in her home, striking her multiple times in the back and then striking her again as she attempted to stop him. Mrs. Aminu yelled for her mother to call 911, and after a short time Huntsville Police Officer Caleb Borman responded to the scene.
