Community Impact reports that officials expect a wrap in December on the construction that is underway on an expansion of the Montgomery County Health Treatment Facility in Conroe that will bring on an additional 100 patient beds, increasing the site’s capacity for competency-restoration treatment.
Additional steps have been taken by Montgomery County Commissioners to keep the project moving forward by providing funds for commissioning services.
According to Recovery Solutions, the behavioral health provider that manages the hospital that operates 100 beds, on August 18th officials and community leaders broke ground that will expand the facility.
Recovery Solutions Hospital Administrator Jeff Rone said the expansion will concentrate on serving justice-involved individuals a court has found incompetent to stand trial.
The work is described by the project’s contractor, Satterfield and Pontikes Construction, as a 51,085-square-foot expansion designed to accommodate the new beds. It was also indicated by the firm that the additional space will grow the hospital’s reach from around 3,300 patients from 79 counties to 4,300 patients from 140 counties.
Montgomery County Commissioners, following the groundbreaking, moved on on November 18th to give approval to $117,500 for commissioning services to Smith Seckman Reid Inc. Services. Commissioning services involves the process of testing and verifying new or renovated building systems
The patient phase-in begins around February 2027. The source for funding is the Texas Health and Human Services Mental Health Inpatient Facility Grant Program.
