The Courier of Montgomery County reported that the 2026 fair season got underway recently with the Montgomery County Fair Association introducing the 22 teens running for fair queen. It all happened as the Montgomery County Fair hosted its annual media party last Thursday featuring the high school juniors.
At the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, northeast of downtown Conroe, the biggest event in the county runs April 9th through 19th.
During the Saturday night rodeo, April 11th, the fair queen will be crowned. Also named, will be the first-runner up, second-runner up and Miss Congeniality.
Executive Director of the Montgomery County Fair Association Tobin Redwine said, “This April will be the 69th Annual County Fair, that is almost 70 years and we’re getting ready for a big celebration.” She said, “That’s almost 70 years of championing youth, of showing up in our community and recognizing the history and roots of our community in support of the youth of our county.”
Helping run the fair each spring, are 1,300 exhibitors and more than 1,000 volunteers. Sixty scholarships totaling $180,000 were awarded at the fair in 2025.
According to 2025 Montgomery Fair Queen Avery McCartney, a Conroe High senior, the 22 women “represent the very best of what our fair stands for.”
The queen and court will represent the fair throughout the year until the next year’s event in the role of ambassadors.
At the 100th annual Texas Association of Fairs and Events Conference held recently in Fort Worth, the fair was awarded Best Overall event among those with attendance fewer than 75,000.
Fifteen other awards were received by the fair resulting in first and second-place honors across sponsorship, marketing, video and educational categories.
There will be a Go Texan Parade in downtown Conroe on February 21st with the 22 queen candidates participating.
