Community Impact reports that at its December 16th meeting, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees looked at possible changes to their policy on renting school facilities to the public. They did not make a decision.
In regard to changing the policy, CISD Superintendent David Vinson and Assistant Superintendent of Operations Chris Mc Cord presented recommendations to the board.
A rental fee schedule was approved by trustees in 2024 which set pricing for district facility rentals at an amount that allowed the district to recover costs. The public, the same year, could reserve rentals through an online rental system that was created. In order to ensure consistency and fair pricing in 2025, McCord said the CISD conducted a review of area districts and rental types.
At the December 16th meeting, a recommendation was discussed that would add a provision to let teachers hold private for-profit tutoring using facilities of the district such as a school cafeteria. The district will research, according to Vinson, if surrounding districts let teachers conduct for-profit tutoring.
