The Courier of Montgomery County reports that two fundraising programs are coming up that are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Conroe.
One of the programs is the “I Like Me” book program. Under solicitation for the program, are two, $1000 sponsorships per elementary school.
First-grade students in 11 elementary schools will receive the books. Each first grader gets a questionnaire for personal information so a unique story can be written about each individual first grader. Longtime sponsors include Gullo Automotive Group and Quest Engineering.
Helping an entire school to become active readers is considered important by the sponsors. The names of sponsors will be placed on the inside cover of each book.
It’s the 25th year for the project. A total of 31,348 books have been distributed to first graders. Another 1,700 books are expected to be distributed to the 11 schools.
The focus is on family fun in the second fundraiser called a “fun-raiser.”
Historically, the fifth Tuesday evening is a social event for the Rotary Club, but on April 29th a pancake supper will be held at Honor Cafe in Downtown Conroe from 5 to 8 PM.
The price for tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children. Club members have tickets for sale, or those interested can contact Club President Ed Kelly at 509-290-0082. The Rotary Club of Conroe also offers ticket purchases online at their website.
Those attending can either dine in or take out.
Pancake supper funds help community youth by way of scholarships, the annual Runyan Elementary school trip for motivated students to see the Houston Dynamo and much more.
Each Tuesday at noon, the Rotary Club meets at Honor Cafe in Downtown Conroe.
