At this week’s regular session of the Huntsville City Council, one of the agenda items centered around receiving an update on the The Ridge development and it’s current stage in the City’s Development process.
City planner Layne Yeager gave a comprehensive report on The Ridge’s history of compliance steps in regard to city requirements all the way through the status of the project’s Phase 1.
He passed along that the drainage study and civil drawings are under review but have not been approved.
The focus next began moving toward a discussion regarding runoff. Councilmember Fossum asked Mr. Yeager, regarding The Ridge, does the water flow east or west or split some in each direction.
Mr Yeager answered.
There was much public comment regarding runoff from a number of residents of The Ridge’s nearby community of Spring Lake in regard to past flooding in the area and concern that the new construction may bring even more flooding.
Local resident Lori Rose addressed councilmembers, for example, who like the other speakers, expressed concern over the city’s oversight of the Ridge project.
More updates are planned in the future.
