The Courier of Montgomery County reports that the Conroe Salvation Army now has their own canteen truck.
The truck, to be utilized in various disaster-related situations, made its way to Conroe in early February from the Lubbock Salvation Army. Before being introduced into local service, a new exterior wrap was completed on the vehicle.
The Conroe Salvation Army, under the Greater Houston Area Command, is supported by local funds with their services focusing on Conroe.
The organization has been serving Conroe since back in the 1970’s. Those in need, or who would like to volunteer, can find them at 304 Avenue E in Conroe.
Having the availability of their own truck, let’s them take care of more citizens more expeditiously when local power is out.
Local Salvation Army head, Lt. James Guzman, said the truck is capable of serving about 500 per meal from the truck. He said, it’s designed to serve “1,500 to 2,000 meals a day.”
