Community Impact reports that improvements are being proposed by the City of Conroe and TxDOT for Old Conroe Road between South Loop 336 and FM 1488. On April 11th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM an open house will feature the project at Founders Classical Academy at 15530 Brass Nail Road in Conroe.
Those attending will be able to see a prerecorded presentation, look over project materials submit written comments and ask questions.
Information from TxDOT’s website passes along what the improvements under the proposal would include.
They include:
Old Conroe Road and Sgt Ed Holcomb Boulevard widened to four 12-feet-wide travel lanes—two for each direction.
A raised grassy or concrete median that’s 14-feet wide.
On the east side, a 10-feet-wide shared-use path.
Drainage via curbs and gutters.
And, six-feet-wide sidewalks placed intermittently.
Also, Old Conroe Road and Sgt. Ed Holcomb Boulevard would connect with the building of a new bridge over Lake Creek and the West Fork of the San Jacinto River.
The bridge would include:
Four travel lanes that are 12-feet wide with a concrete separation barrier.
Outside shoulders that are 10 feet wide.
A shared-use path on the east side that is 14-feet wide.
Also, according to information on TxDOT’s website, the additional right of way would require 191 acres. However, no non-residential or residential structures are planned to be displaced.
