The Courier of Montgomery County reports that in order to make sure medical services don’t fall below the swift upward curve of area growth, a 24,000-square foot expansion is underway on the Lone Star Family Health Center Conroe branch.
On November 16th, the health center clinical staff, members of the board and G.T.T. general contractors got together for a groundbreaking ceremony. With an expected opening in September of 2024, the expansion effort will build on the present building at 605 South Conroe Medical Drive.
Lone Star Family Health Center, founded in 2002, offers medical, mental-health and dental services. Their five clinics include Conroe, Willis, Huntsville, Spring and Grangerland and offer primary care services.
In June of 2012, the Conroe center opened its doors with 70,000 square feet of space. The center managed testing sites in Conroe during the pandemic era along with administering the COVID-19 vaccine.
Chief Executive Officer for the Lone Star Family Health Center, Karen Harwell, said the added area will allow for another medical pod. The area should serve around 3,000 more patients.
Included in the project is a renovation of the second floor, a mental health suite and enlargement of the pharmacy area which will add a retail section of the pharmacy.
