Walker County Commissioners met for a Special Session Monday at the courthouse to hear a discussion presented by the County’s Emergency Medical Services on future options to improve service.
They focused on high-call volume and what they referred to as “zero level,” which means no ambulance to respond to the call, and they had to call an outside agency for an ambulance.
Assistant EMS Director Chris Toman addressed commissioners with a slide presentation.
EMS Director Rachel Parker passed along one of their primary focuses on a solution.
Ms. Parker talked about the Telehealth option.
She also mentioned triaging patients with dispatch on the patient’s condition, which would dictate what kind of response they would get depending on non-life threatening complaints with no emergent response immediately, but eventually. She also talked about communicating their issues with the community.
