The Montgomery County Courier reports that at 1 PM Saturday the 58th Annual Go Texan Parade will kick-off in downtown Conroe. It’s a celebratory expression of the beginning of the rodeo season in Montgomery County.
There will be hundreds mounted on horseback, and there will be floats, music from marching bands, local officials, local organizations and businesses.
Southeast Texas organizations and entities that are presenting the parade include the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Houston Metro Go Texan Committee Conroe/ Willis / the Woodlands Subcommittee and the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce.
The parade gets underway at Texas 75 and FM 2854 (Metcalf Street) and keeps going east along MetCalf going through downtown Conroe. The parade will then head east in the direction of Conroe City Hall and then go by the west side of the Montgomery County Courthouse. Then, it will end where it started.
In order to announce the floats and participants in the parade, speaker stands will be located at the south side of Heritage Place Park, the north side of the Park, at Main and Metcalf, Phillips and Main and Cochran and Main Streets by First Baptist Church.
Grand marshals are Hap Hunnicutt and Joe Van Matre.
