USA: 113 . . .39 gold, 41 silver, 33 bronze
China: 88 . . .38 gold, 32 silver, 18 bronze
Russia: 71 . . . 20 gold, 28 silver, 23 bronze
Great Britain: 65 . . . 22 gold, 21 silver, 22 bronze
Japan: 58 . . . 27 gold, 14 silver, 17 bronze
The female athletes came up big at the end and that was the trend in general this year. Female athletes won 66 of Team USA’s medals, 23 of them gold. Male athletes won 41 medals, 16 of which were gold. The red, white and blue also won six medals in mixed team events.
Team USA sent 626 athletes to the Games this year.
