The Courier of Montgomery County reports that a number of celebrations of the Fourth of July will be under way soon in Conroe and Montgomery.
In Conroe, hosted by Conroe’s Parks and Recreation Department, the city’s Stars & Stripes celebration gets under way at Heritage Place Park in downtown Conroe Saturday from 6 to 9:30 PM. On hand, will be a variety of food trucks, kid’s activities and a vendor market.
Visitors are asked to bring along blankets, lawn chairs and water to hear the Conroe Symphony in concert at 8 PM. A fireworks display will follow at 9:15 PM. Parking and entry are free.
On the streets downtown, on Saturday, local business owners will feature the 4th Annual Freedom Fest. It gets under way at 11 AM. There will be live music, shopping, water slides, a cornhole tournament and dessert trucks available.
Mims Baptist Church in Conroe has a patriotic worship service at 10:30 AM Sunday with patriotic music. Family-friendly activities will be offered by the church at 5:30 PM on July 3 with inflatables for kids, food trucks, family games and fireworks around 9 PM. The church address is 1609 Porter in Conroe.
Conroe VFW Post 4709 offers their annual Fourth of July picnic from 11 AM to 4 PM at 1303 West Semands Street. They’ll have bounce houses, hot dogs and a dunk tank.
On Saturday, the City of Montgomery holds their Fourth of July Freedom Fest in the town’s historic district. At 9 AM the “Anything But a Trailer” parade gets underway. The parade moves along Liberty Street through the center of the historic district. After the parade, in the downtown district, there are vendors and a kid’s zone through 3 in the afternoon.
