Melinda Miller Holt has been named the new dean of the Sam Houston State University College of Science & Engineering Technology (COSET), effective Feb. 16, following a national search. Holt, professor of statistics at SHSU, has been serving in the interim dean position since Jan. 1, 2023.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Michael T. Stephenson, said, “Dr. Holt has made an impact in her brief time as interim dean of the college, and I’m eager to see what she accomplishes as she continues to serve the college and its needs as dean.”
During her more than 18 years at SHSU, in addition to her time as interim dean, Holt has served as an associate dean and chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. In 2022, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Statistical Association.
COSET includes eight academic units and offers more than 40 degrees and seven certificate programs.
