Community Impact reports that on January 23rd, the guaranteed maximum price of $65.3 million was approved for the costs of construction on Montgomery ISD’s career and technical education and agricultural science centers.
Montgomery ISD’s Operations Officer Kris Lynn said, trustees approved maximum construction costs unanimously in the amounts of around $46.2 million for the CTE center, $15.8 million for the ag center and, for “project alternates,” $3.3 million.
The project alternates are:
–An expansion of the CTE center of 16,162 square feet.
–An exterior cover expansion for the ag center of 17,591 square feet
–And for the welding and construction yard, a canopy.
Once finished, Mr. Lynn said the centers will offer:
–A bistro that’s open to the community, operated during various hours by culinary students.
–A robotics and engineering lab.
–An arena for animal shows, including livestock pens.
–And a classroom and lab for animal science.
As part of MISD’s $326.9 million bond approved by voters last year, the district’s CTE and ag centers have a combined projected cost of $80 million. Combined, the buildings will encompass 189,000 square feet.
