In an update, the Courier of Montgomery County reports that the new Home Depot in Montgomery will be open this fall.
Assistant City Administrator and Director of Planning and Development, Dave McCorquodale , said the retailer out of Atlanta broke ground for the facility in October of 23 at its planned spot off Texas 105.
McCorquodale said as far as sales tax, the store “will be at the top of the list.” He said the store will be beneficial in growing the city’s economy and more jobs will come with it.
Local officials struck a partnership back on October 2nd for Buffalo Springs Drive improvements to the roadway along with new traffic signals in the area. The two projects have an estimated cost of over $1.4 million. City documents say the store will supply $750,000 and take care of the costs that remain, while the City of Montgomery will pay back Home Depot during a five-year-or-more period.
McCorquodale added that the view of the Home Depot decision-makers was that they were bringing in a store to Montgomery for customers that had to drive to The Woodlands and Conroe to shop at Home Depot in the past.
