A SART, or Sexual Assault Response Team, committee biennial written report was presented by Walker County’s First Assistant District Attorney Quentin Russell to commissioners this week.
He passed along that, “The legislature a couple of years ago required the county to create one sexual assault response team.”
According to the governor’s website, “Senate Bill 476 requires all Texas counties to form an adult Sexual Assault Response Team in an effort to create statewide infrastructure of resources, awareness, connection, and coordination to address sex crimes locally.”
Two committee members were approved by commissioners—Kennille Phelps and Carolina Mancilla.
