Weather permitting, beginning at 8:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023, and ending at 8:00 AM on Sunday, December 17, 2023, IH 45 Northbound will have alternating lane closures between Exit 117 and Exit 118. These lane closures are needed to allow the contractor to complete the traffic switch onto the new concrete pavement. During this closure, the IH 45 Northbound Entrance will be closed north of SH 30 and will remain closed while the remainder of the IH 45 Northbound main lanes are constructed in this area. A signed detour will be in place to guide motorists to enter IH 45 Northbound. Exit 117 will remain closed to allow for the construction of the IH 45 Northbound Frontage Road. IH 45 Northbound Exit 118 will remain open.
To alert drivers to the change, changeable message signs will be placed in advance of the area where the traffic switch will occur and law enforcement officers will be in place to assist with the closure and to help guide motorists through intersections. The speed limit is reduced to 60 MPH on IH 45 main lanes throughout the limits of the project and 40 MPH and 45 MPH on the frontage roads. Drivers should exercise caution and be prepared for delays during construction.
