Community Impact reports that when Montgomery ISD’s Creekside Elementary School opens in August, the principal of MISD’s Madeley Ranch Elementary School will become Creekside’s principal.
According to an MISD press release, since February of 2018 Shelby Smith has served as the principal of Madeley Ranch. Montgomery ISD’s trustees approved her for the Creekside position on December 5th.
Ms. Smith said she was “honored and so grateful for the opportunity to open a new campus.”
For the rest of the 2023-24 school year, Ms. Smith will continue as principal for Madeley Ranch. Beginning in the spring semester, a search to find the right candidates for Madeley Ranch principal will begin.
A Montgomery ISD press release regarding Ms. Smith also reports:
–For around 12 years she worked for MISD
–She served previously as assistant principal of Hunble ISD and Montgomery ISD
–Her teaching career began by instructing elementary students
–She has a master’s degree in administration
MISD’s 2022 $326.9 million bond funded Creekside Elementary’s construction, which got underway in June. The school is being built to take in the growing number of students at Keenan and Stewart Creek elementary schools. It’s location will be behind Lake Creek High School off FM 2854.
According to MISD’s release, attendance boundaries for Creekside Elementary will be voted on by trustees on December 19th.
