Community Impact recently updated Montgomery ISD’s five bond projects underway. Approved by voters in May of 2022, a bond package of $326.9 million funds the efforts.
In order to expand capacity for 900 more students, construction is underway at Lake Creek High School in MISD. A wing of classrooms and lab spaces are included in the project. It’s expected that construction will be completed ahead of the school year for 2024-25. Construction cost is estimated at $27.8 million.
At Montgomery Junior High School, renovations are expected to finish up this month. Underway at the school are technology upgrades in the classrooms, the reconfiguration of the library, renovation of the kitchen and improvement to lighting. Construction cost is estimated at $7.36 million.
At Montgomery Elementary School, renovations are expected to be done with this month. Completed work will include upgrades to technology in the classrooms, additional restrooms for the gym, better lighting, kitchen renovations and upgrading and reconfiguring of the library. There will also be a rebuild done on the front entry. Construction cost is estimated at $6.38 million.
Upgrades and construction have been underway this summer for Lincoln Elementary School. Improvement results include a full replacement of the kitchen, reconfiguration of the main entry and technology improvements in the classrooms. For expanded parking and a safer place for the playground, a parking lot configuration and new car rider line were added. Later in the fall semester, students can expect playground and gym improvements. Construction cost is estimated at $4.59 million.
The seventh elementary school for Montgomery ISD is being constructed close to Lake Creek High School. The groundbreaking took place in June. The school, when finished, will have room for 900 students, offering 95,000 square feet. The projected opening will take place ahead of the 2024-25 school year. The construction cost is estimated at $33.5 million.
