The Texas Department of Transportation – Bryan District is preparing plans to improve various crossings along SH 19 from 4 miles south of FM 405 (near Sterling Chapel Road) to 3.6 miles north of SH 30 (near Louis Grant Road) in Walker County, Texas. The purpose of the proposed project is to enhance safety along the corridor and improve traffic flow near intersections. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting a public meeting on the proposed project.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church, 2351 FM 980, Huntsville, Texas 77320. The purpose of the meeting is to present the proposed project and receive public comments. On the day of the public meeting, the information presented will be made available online on the TxDOT website, www.txdot.gov, keyword search “SH 19 Intersection Improvements”.
The proposed improvements would reconfigure the existing crossovers to construct Reduced Conflict U-Turn (RCUT) intersections with offset U-turns. Additionally, right turn lanes will be constructed at Trail Ridge Road, Morris Lane and Wood Farm Road. The length of the proposed project is approximately 1.5 miles, and TxDOT does not anticipate right-of-way acquisition for this project.
