Community Impact reports that at Conroe ISD’s Board of Trustees April 1st special meeting, while acknowledging uncertainty surrounding enrollment and potential changes to funding with the Texas Legislature underway, board members discussed projections for the fiscal year 2025-26 budget.
CISD Chief Financial Officer Karen Garza addressed the board. She talked to the board about projections and the challenges of formulating the budget because of:
–The current legislative year’s possible legislation impact
–An $11.9 million current budget deficit
–Education savings accounts being discussed by the Texas Legislature unknown impact
–The growing special education population’s need for support
With the district being conservative with enrollment projections, Garza said the estimated projected student enrollment for 2025-26 is 73,500 students with a daily attendance rate of 93 percent.
At present, the current projected fiscal year budget for 2025-26 includes:
–$719.30 million in estimated total revenue
–$724.06 million in estimated total expenditures
–$4.76 million in an estimated budget shortfall
