Community Impact reports that this morning at 9 AM the Conroe City Council will discuss the possible sale of the Sam Houston Elementary School property during a special meeting. Their initial meeting had been planned for January 3rd.
Councilmembers will look at offers made to buy the elementary school property. Mayor Duke Coon will be authorized to sign any contracts and documents regarding the sale.
The school was listed by the city council for $4.3 million during a November 14th meeting.
Before the November listing Overland Property Group was going to buy the property, However, in early February they backed out.
Looking back to 2021, the city bought the property from Conroe ISD with the idea of creating a place for performing arts. The cost for completing the potential project, however, was too high.
