Community Impact reports that Montgomery ISD leaders announced on December 3rd that following the passage of the district’s voter-approval tax rate election on November 5th, that the district will be able to hire additional elementary school staff.
As the district confronts a nearly $4.3 million budget shortfall, the voters have approved a tax rate election that will provide $5.5 million in additional revenue. MISD officials said, due to the incoming revenue, the district will be able to staff positions at Montgomery and Creekside elementary schools.
The employment hiring page for MISD shows positions offered after the November 5th election for both of the schools include:
–For Montgomery Elementary School, two special education professionals.
–For Creekside Elementary School, one teacher each for first and third grade.
–For Montgomery Elementary School, one teacher each for fourth and fifth grade.
On December 3rd, Superintendent Mark Ruffin asked teachers at both schools if they want additional staff hired before the end of the 2024-25 school year. Some of the teachers have 28 students per class while most other MISD classes have 22 students per class. He said the staff requested additional help as soon as possible. The new positions will start in January.
