Community Impact reports that at their November 19th meeting Conroe ISD trustees okayed reinstating the 2023 bylaws of the district’s School Health Advisory Council, or SHAC. They also reinstated previous members.
To ensure that local community values and health issues are reflected in the district’s health and physical instruction, the SHAC was created to assist them.
Board President Misty Odenweller said, “We as a board are not bound by these suggestions.”
The board approved the 2024-25 SHAC member count to increase from 21 members to 47, by a unanimous vote. They also accepted all those who applied to the council through the procedures in place last May.
Previously the board okayed adoption of new bylaws and lowered the number of members serving on the SHAC via a 4 to 3 vote during the May 14th board meeting.
Replacing the four members who voted in favor of the measure were a new slate of trustees in the November 5th election. They were sworn in on November 18th.
Odenweller passed along that when the January SHAC meeting comes up, the council will adhere to the 2023 by laws and all members are to attend.
