The Courier of Montgomery County reports that in December of 2023 West Conroe Baptist Church hosted the last year of their drive-through Christmas presentation “Bethlehem City.” This Christmas season a new event is being planned by church leaders.
The life of Jesus Christ was the focus on “Bethlehem City” in a quarter of an hour drive-through. Over 100 re-enactors and animals were on hand. The re-enactment went on for 17 years at the church.
Moving forward, the church will be presenting “Discover Christmas” December 6th and 7th from 6 to 9 PM on the church grounds.
According to Missions Minister Kay Robinson, they’re incorporating some of the “good things about ‘Bethlehem City’” with a change. It will no longer be a drive-through. Ms. Robinson said they are calling it “Discover Christmas” because they want “people to discover Christ, discover church and discover connections with people.”
Participants will go into the church parking lot from Longmire Road and find a parking place in the upper lots of the church. Entering church they will register for the event. Discover Christmas will be held in the lower parking lot along North Loop 336. Included in this new event will be several scenes that were in “Bethlehem City.”
Also featured in the event will be music, lights, games, food, an ice-skating rink sledding and other activities apropo for the holidays. Senior pastor Jesse Payne will be delivering a ten-minute message in regard to the true meaning of Christmas at 7:15 and 8:45 PM.
