The Courier of Montgomery County reports that since its founding in 1974, the Texas Renaissance Festival is getting ready to have their busiest season of camping.
During opening weekend with over 6,000 people who spent the night at their 230-acre campgrounds, officials predict the number of campers during the season from last year will double. Last year, 44,000 people camped at the festival. According to the campground’s manager, Reagan Knox, they are expecting 70,000 campers this time around. Knox said he’s been working to make the numbers higher.
There are two ways to camp. Festival goers can buy a day pass or a “stay and play” pass. The “stay and play” pass lets people attend the festival both weekend days. With a “camping only” or just a day pass, a ticket to attend the actual festival is still required.
Between 8 AM Thursday to 12 PM Monday, camping is allowed. The cost for the day pass or “camping only pass” goes for $25 per person in advance and $32 on the weekend. People can camp at the festival the whole five says with a “stay and play” pass. Those tickets depend on the weekend, but go from $66 to $94.
Children are allowed to camp at the festival at no charge, if they are 12 and younger. To purchase tickets go the festival’s website at texrenfest.com. Do-it-Yourself camping or using the festival’s rentals are the two ways for people to camp at the festival.
