At the CASA of Walker, San Jacinto and Trinity Counties “All About Kids Expo” back in April, CASA initiated a Jewelry Design Contest for kids 5 to 12. The winner would have their artwork turned into a custom piece of jewelry thanks to Elliott’s Jewelers.
The winner of the contest was Sarah Santos. Sarah was awarded her custom designed jewelry from jeweler Elliott Herzlich at a special presentation at CASA’s headquarters at 2515 Pine Shadows on Monday.
We asked Sarah about how long it took her to draw it and how did she come up with the idea for the jewelry.
Indeed, it was a family-dedicated work of art. You can find a picture of her wearing the jewelry in this news story on our webpage.
We asked jeweler Elliott Herzlich about what goes into making a jewelry piece like this, and how long does it take? He showed us the original drawing and explained.
