The Courier of Montgomery County reports that since the marketplace is flourishing in Montgomery County, a merger is taking place—Montgomery and Conroe/Lake Conroe Chambers of Commerce are becoming one organization.
The Chairman of the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce Jennifer Millington said their organization has over a thousand members, and they’ve been around over 90 years. Millington said this new “combined network” will make business grow in the area.
As a result of the merger, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce will “dissolve,” and their members will become part of the Conroe chamber.
The staff at the Montgomery Chamber will stay on and take on new positions in association with the merged chambers in order to take care of the community in Montgomery. In the future, a visitor center is under planning for downtown Montgomery. According to the president of the Montgomery Chamber, Shannon Reid, they will still be having their “signature events” to spotlight businesses in Montgomery County.
The merger has been legally consummated, but during the month of March each chamber is working to unify their efforts to conduct a smooth transformation.
Montgomery Chamber Chairman Brent Stokes sees the merging as helping to increase “exposure” and “broaden networks.”
