The Courier of Montgomery County reports that on Saturday, February 17th, the 9th Annual Go Texan Parade gets underway at 1 PM in downtown Conroe. This usually ushers in rodeo season in Montgomery County.
Attracting people from around the county, the parade includes mounted law enforcement patrol units, dignitaries from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, school and community groups, marching bands, elected officials and car club members. This all adds up to about 120 to 130 parade entries.
The Houston Livestock and Rodeo, Houston Metro Go Texan Committee and the Conroe/Willis/ The Woodlands Subcommittee are the presenters of the parade.
For nearly six decades the parade is seen as a tradition in Conroe.
The parade starts it’s travel at Texas 75 and FM 2854, which is Metcalf Street, and continues traveling on Metcalf through Conroe downtown. It next heads east toward City Hall and moves by the west side of the Montgomery County Courthouse. It then finishes where it started at FM 2854 and Texas 75.
The grand marshal of the parade will be Ray Hinsley. He is a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo executive committee.
